  INCOMING EMAILS 2010
Coach Harrison,
My name is C S.  I am a football coach at A- E  high school located in t Ohio.  I wanted to first of all congradulate you on returning to Nathanael Greene.  Coach, the reason why I am emailing is to get your take on who you would consider you follow when it comes to line blocking.  There are so many school of thoughts out there.

I have seen clips of your double wing and in my personnel opinion you run the most impressive version of the offense.  I read that you are working with 15-16 kids, as well as yourself only on the coaching staff, and to have those type of results truely is amazing.  I think our situation is quite similar.  We have a few more kids out, around 30, but that is considerably smaller for the programs around here.

Coach, anything you would be willing to share on how you block things up front would be great.  Good luck Coach this upcoming year.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You - C S

INCOMING EMAILS 2006

****Hey, Coach –
I sure was disappointed to know you wouldn’t be coming back. I hope that it was your decision,
and not one made for you. Either way, I want you to know that you will be sorely missed.
Your demeanor and style of offense were exactly what was needed in a small school like NGA.

You commanded respect from players, parents and fans – not by demanding it – but by leading
with character and integrity. In fact, when Jay had to write a paper on leadership and I asked him
to think of a leader, he came up with Coach Harrison. That speaks volumes in my book.

Coach, you did your job with class and passion. You pushed the kids, but always kept their
dignity intact. NGA was honored to have you serve as head football coach. You got the
maximum out of each player and made a diverse group of teens into a winning team. I was
personally honored to work with you.

If there were something I could do to change your mind, I’d surely do it … but we’ll do the best
we can otherwise.
If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to call. May God bless you and your family
richly.

Be Transformed!
Pastor Jimmy

****COACH,
I WANTED TO CHECK IN AND SAY THANKS FOR THE BEST THREE YEARS OF FOOTBALL NGA  HAS EVER HAD. IT WAS A GREAT RIDE. WE ALL WISH YOU LUCK IN YOUR NEW POSITION AND HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE GEORGIA DOME THIS FALL!
JOEY RHODES, NGA BOARD OF TRUSTEES

****Hey coach, i heard at the basketball game last night that you wouldn’t be coming back to coach. im
not going to ask you why, because that’s not important...but what is important is the relationship
you built with all of your players. you even built one with me and my senior class in one season.
you respected and believed in us from day one and that showed us that you were exactly what we
needed to win. you built a very strong relationship with my brother and that made him a lot better
football player, cause when he was a freshman he wasn’t very good. you made him the poster boy for
NGA quarterbacks. you had a very athletic younger brother as well, and i remember you telling me
how proud you were of him at all times. At first i didn’t believe you, but after watching jimmy play
from the stands i became very proud and i knew you would put him in situations that weren't easy so he could show his ability. even though he "failed" at times with game losing INTs, you still showed the trust you had in him because the next game you put it in his hands again. that made me more proud than anything. i just want to say thanks, not for taking us to a state championship and
region championship, but for showing me that i could be proud of my brother. it is a shame you won't be back to unite another state championship team like you did the past 3 seasons, but i'm sure your reasons for not coming back are very understandable.  good luck coach

INCOMING EMAILS 2005

This email shows what nice folks we have sharing our offense throughout the country:

A very nice reference

A forum inquiry from coach X:
Does this system really work in the HS ranks? Seems like there are allot of youth and coaches
from overseas having success with it, but how many in the HS ranks are winning with it?

Response from a coach in PA:
top 25 team in the country, Clovis East HS ...they beat the storied Midland Lee team in Texas last
year...so yes sir, it not only works, it works well. Keep reading and you’ll find lots of HS coaches
here who win, we have the OC of the two time state super champion Southeastern team here on
this site in addition to Georgia’s finest in Coach Harrison. Look around . - S

Coach Harrison,

It's been a while and I thought I'd drop you a line to say hello. I hope you and your wife had a great Easter. I went to my first Wyatt Clinic yesterday in Philadelphia, it was great! I introduced myself to him and had the privilege of talking to his wife for a brief moment. They remind me of you and your wife, a class act. I believe you and he are quality individuals with tremendous character. I have learned a great deal from you both. It has been great meeting the legends of the DW (Harrison, Wyatt, Murphy) these past few months. I watched the Toombs game again last night for about the 10th time. Each time I view it I feel your pain, the game was yours. Your kids played an outstanding game and outplayed a great football team. The improvement shown from the 1st meeting is unbelievable. I hope all is going well for you. Thank you for all your help.

Coach, D

This from of a football forum:

I am new to this forum, but familiar with you and your team. I was able
to download a sample of highlights from your 2004 season and have copied everything you had
on the highlights. I am one of the few coaches that ran the DW here in Hawaii and have been
blessed to have learned it from you. We are a first year freshmen team that were totally
outmatched in every aspect of the game but was able to contend respectfully in our very tough
league. We started off with the wing-T but switched to the DW....what a surprise...I wish we
started the season with the DW. I have read everything on your website including your weekly
comments from the games. You have brought excitement to a close community that never new
victory until your arrival. You have been a blessing to not only the boys but to their families. I
hurt with you that things didn't go quite the way that you wanted it but you and your team will
bounce back...you always have and you will again. Congratulations coach on another successful
season. We're raising monies and looking for sponsors to make it out to the Double Wing                             Symposium because I would like to meet you in person and glean off of coaches like yourself.                                Again congrats on another great season and be encouraged because your best days in coaching                               are ahead of you.

Hey Coach, Words can’t describe what I witnessed last Friday night. It was by far the most amazing football game I have ever watched. Coming up on the loosing end truly sucked! I have no idea where the strength and determination came from, but our kids truly played like the CHAMPIONS they are. I was standing on the goal line when the officials gave us that famous (spot) and believe me, we were truly cheated, and the line judge heard the worst from me, several times. I would love to be able to view the film sometime. I want you to make sure you tell the guys just how much I appreciate the great season. They proved time and time again that they can overcome great odds and still end up on top. The injuries we suffered were the most I have ever seen in one team in a single season, yet we continued to fight back and overcome adversity. As for you, you did a great job again! And I hope I will be able to call you our Coach for a long time to come. MG

2004

**What a tremendous coaching job.  You had your kids in the right positions, gave them the appropriate keys and reads on defense, called an excellent game and I thought recognized their defensive weakness or your strength with power and super power at 8.  poor footing allowed backside leakage and difficulty for QB to pivot.  you called 2 great early time outs, one in each half that were brilliant. You can't be in the huddle creating intensity for them each play or go after blocks, stay set or aggressively tip away passes with all out effort yourself. I wanted to go out and huddle up in your defensive huddle after RT's 1st TD. At least half your guys had their hands on their hips with little excitement among the defense. That is not your responsibility. Your coaching demeanor is one to be admired by anyone in your profession.  What a joy to watch an undermanned, undersized team be in the right position or to know where they need to be on seemingly every play. You should be on cloud nine for what you have done for this group.  We did not stay for your speech after the game but I hope you did not beat up yourself. I would only hope my son would have the opportunity to play for someone half the person you appear to me. SF

**Thank you for taking the heart of our boys and making it grow.  We enjoyed every minute of every game.  It was a very exciting season and runner up in state is awesome.  It just wasn't our turn to win it but what a ride to get there and come out runner up.  We agree with you, our seniors have something to remember for a lifetime.  The underclassmen also have something to remember and grow and learn from.
We have enjoyed the stories: about practices, what they should have and didn't do at games, what they did do at games, watching the films, watching their eyes light up when they won, watching their excitement each day for the next game to win and most of all their pride in their coach and team and season.  Thank you for your website, it kept my family members informed and it was like they were right here with us.  You are a great leader.  it shows in how far we rode.  Thank you for taking a team we knew had it, they just needed someone to guide them, and you did that.  GH lost his grandfather in 2002 to brain cancer.  He was very close to him.  It took a direct hit.  Baseball used to be his sport (his grandfathers sport too). Last baseball season was bad, GH just couldn't get it together. I started to worry about him.  But... When you came and started this team and GH would come home with that sparkle in his eyes (something we saw when he played baseball) it brought tears to my eyes, as I knew GH had finally came around and was going to be alright.  He had to prove something this year in football that he could be one of the best and had to work hard at it.  We are very proud of him.  Thank you for giving that back to us.  WE will try again next year, one thing for sure, with you as a coach we will have an awesome ride to enjoy.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!  Once things settle down we want you and Kathy to come for supper.  Have a very great Thanksgiving. MH

**Hey Coach,

I know it's a tough morning to try and get going after all that happened last night.  It was a heart breaker but that's just the way it goes sometimes.  Our guys were outsized but never outplayed and no other team has the heart that our guys have.  I hope that the underclassmen have enjoyed this taste of success and that will encourage them to work even harder for next season.
Personally, I want to thank you for the last few months.  I've been involved with NGA football since 1977 when I was a freshman player and this is the greatest season that I've ever been a part of.  When we interviewed you, you were already talking about a state championship.  I thought you were a little crazy but I also saw someone who was confident in his system and knew he could get the job done and you did.  Everyone is just really proud of you and the team.
Here are a few things that the team accomplished:
1.  First outright region championship
2.  Best regular season and playoff record
3.  Most points scored and most total yards by any NGA team ever.
4.  First time NGA has ever played in the title game.
5.  Largest crowd in the history of NGA football - about 1500 people last night.
6.  I'm not sure about this one but it bears looking up.  Least points allowed in a season by an NGA defense.

Most importantly, you helped change not only the attitude of the players, but the attitude of the parents, fans and school.  That's what I meant last night when I told you that you don't realize what you've done.  NGA has always had the attitude, in my opinion, that it's o.k. to lose - especially in football.  This same group of guys was either 2-8 or 3-7 last year.  Same guys - different attitude.  Last year parents and fans were screaming at the coach - now they're screaming for the coach.  You - and Mr. Prance - have changed that attitude and that's the most wonderful thing that has happened at our school since it's inception.
Thanks again and don't be a stranger.  Sometime in the next couple of months I would like to get you and Ms. Kathy and some other folks together for dinner at our house.  Hope we can pull that together.

**Dear Coach Harrison,
This is Chris McDonnell from DOCK 103.9 in Greensboro, Georgia. I have been visiting your site on a weekly
basis throughout the entire season and I decided to wait until the end of the season to e-mail you. This was my
first season covering NGA on a consistent basis and words can not express how impressed I was each week.
Coming down to Siloam was one of the best parts of my week and everyone was always very gracious when I
was there.
This was the first time I had ever seen this style of offense run at this level, and each week I became more and
more impressed with the blocking and over-all skill level of the team. The defense swarmed to the ball on every
possession and was truly amazing to watch.
This team should be extremely proud of there accomplishments and you have definitely brought a winning
attitude to the team. It was a pleasure meeting with you at the end of the games and I hope to follow NGA
next season.
Best wishes,
Chris McDonnell

**You know what winning is really all about? It's about being better than you were before, better than you
thought you could be. I saw winners unfold from week to week as the Patriots unleashed its arsenal of
gutsy young men on their opponents. Watching the confidence grow in the faces of these guys throughout
this season has given me something back that I haven't felt in many years, and that is a burning desire to
be better than I am right now. Now I'm sure that it didn't affect everyone in the same way. But from my
perspective remembering my own days on the field and knowing how much it takes week in and week out
to strive for more (one yard at a time), Nathanael Greene proved to me that a winning spirit never dies and
can never be taken away.
Thanks for a great season,
Ken H
PS. Coach Harrison's nick-name is "Snake"! You'll have to ask him why.

Coach Harrison Here: I’m heading that one off at the pass. I got pegged with "Snake" around the 10th grade
at Columbia High School while a bunch of us starters were running scout team against the 1st “D”, We just
took on nick-names playing around, maybe due to our style of running or play, and I got “the Snake”, Kenny Stabler, nick-named “the Snake” at Alabama was big at the time I seem to remember. Anyway, it stuck, and that is all anyone called me back then. If I run into someone from school, They still chime, Snake!    So be prepared... Pearl, Puddin, Streak, Gumby, Poodle, Rico, J, Free.

**Letter to the school....Dear Jim, (Headmaster Jim Prance),
The evening of Friday 11-19-2004 is an experience I will never forget and one that I will always cherish.
It was a thrill and a pleasure to be on the sidelines with my family, old friends, new friends, and those
determined Patriot football players. I have had a career in orthopaedic surgery in sports medicine that
includes 35 years on the sidelines with teams under my care in Virginia and Dalton, GA. 32 of those years
have involved being the Team Physician for the Dalton High Catamounts. That allowed me to witness
first hand, numerous exciting regular season games, playoff games, 2 trips to the GEORGIA DOME, and 4
state championship games with the Dalton Catamounts. This exposure has resulted in my taking care of
athletes from close to 25 high schools in Northwest and North Central Georgia. Some of these I treated after
they made it to college teams and even to the NFL. During my training in orthopaedic surgery at the U of
Virginia, I had the opportunity to be the Team Physician for the Roanoke Buckskins in the Atlantic Coast
Football League. I have played the game and know what it feels like to hurt someone, and get hurt,
physically and emotionally.
The reason for the above diatribe is to express to you, Coach Larry Harrison, and the Patriot Football Team,
the impression made on me during my visit to Rhodes Field. I have never been more impressed with what
I saw on and off the field of play. The team gave all they had and more, and no one who saw the game
could think otherwise. The fan support was incredible. The community and surrounding area turned-out in
a manner that created a championship atmosphere. Regardless of the final score, The Nat-Greene Patriots
are Champions. Their opponent had the size and the numbers, but they did not have the heart of the gutsy
team from the village of Siloam.
I have followed the Patriots all year via Coach Harrison’s website, The Herald-Journal, and through calls
from my family. I have bragged about the team to my Dalton friends, and after the championship game,
I have bragged even more. The misty rain that fell throughout the game did not dampen the spirits of all
those present, players and fans alike. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of a wonderful event.
Congratulations to the Patriots for their fine season, and I look forward to your having additional exciting times.

With warmest regards,
C.H.E. , M.D.
